Sojka – What is it all about?

• Sojka (Jay-bird) is a registered association working with young people. Together with its German partner association SdJ, Sojka organises activities for children and teenagers from the Czech Republic and Germany offering them both amusement and an exciting experience.

What does Sojka do?

• Our focus is on German-Czech co-operation through activities of both our members and other interested people. Some of our most important events are the summer camps in Germany (for younger and older participants) and the Easter camp in the Czech Republic. In addition we organise a lot of weekend events and workshops on a variety of topics like, for example, German – Czech youth meeting work and its methodology; language; intercultural education; organisation of international seminars, etc.

How was Sojka hatched?

• Ever since 1990 summer camps have been organised for German and Czech young people. Sojka was founded in 1996 by older participants of these camps with the encouragement of SdJ. This was followed by official registration with the Interior Ministry of the Czech Rebublic on the 2nd September 1996.

Who supports Sojka?

• Sojka is a non-profit organisation and depends upon the sponsorship of the Czech Department for Foreign Affairs (MZV ČR), the School administration (MŠMT ČR) as well as from the City of Brno and Čelákovice and the German-Czech Future Fund. Donations and sponsors are welcome.

Our magazine Zobák dokořán

•Zobák dokořán is the name of our club magazine which is used for communication between Sojka members. It carries advertising material. It contains interesting articles, reports of former events and informs you about everything that is going on.
